Sarah Gross to perform last show at Funk n’ Waffles

By Katie Hopsicker

Before Sarah Gross graduates and begins her solo career, she and her band will play one last time together at Funk n’ Waffles in Downtown Syracuse. Logan Whaley and Erez Zobary will open the performance.

Funk n’ Waffles is located on Clinton St. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.

Gross said that while she is emotional about leaving Syracuse, she’s thankful she could have one last show with her band. After graduating, the group is splitting off to pursue their own careers.

“We’ve worked so hard to get to the place where we are musically, and we’ve become such great friends in the process,” she said.

They have a great show planned for tonight. Not only will they play some of their classic songs, but they also have a few twists and surprises lined up for the crowd.

One surprise is that the crew each secretly chose two songs from the past four years and wrote the titles on popsicle sticks. At the show, they will pick four songs at random to play.

This isn’t Gross’ first big show, though. The artist has opened for big names like Sammy Rae and Lawrence. Gross recalled one of her favorite band memories from a music festival last summer.

“It was the calm before the storm, and we had no idea how much good was going to happen in the next year,” she said.
