Grease is the word this weekend for Syracuse’s First Year Players performing “Grease” April 7th-9th in Goldstein Auditorium. Tickets are $5, with the ticket link in their Instagram bio, @fypsyracuse .
FYP is a theater organization completely run by non-theater majors with a freshman-only cast. From directing to music and choreography, students can find their passion in the theater space. FYP is a special place for those not pursuing theater professionally. Many of the cast members stay involved throughout their college careers, filling various roles.
Freshman Reese Gaudelli is a Broadcast and Digital Journalism major making her FYP debut this weekend in the role of Betty Rizzo.
“Rizzo is very sassy, sarcastic, and tough, which has been so fun to play, especially since I don’t consider myself to be any of those things,” she said. “It's been really rewarding to dig deeper into the duality of her character.”
Gaudelli has been in rehearsals every day for months, and watching the show come to life has been her favorite part of the process. Putting together the set, lighting, mics, and costumes during tech week made the show feel all the more real, and the cast was more than ready for opening night.
With a successful first performance, Gaudelli and the rest of the cast are excited to show-off their hard work this weekend.
